Rabbit Day Diary Decoration: Coloring with Watercolor Pencils

3/3 Rabbit Day Diary Decoration

It's starting to feel like spring.
The other day I went to see the plum blossoms and they were so beautiful.
That's right! There are also plum blossom stamps in Ekuryu Forest!
I'd like to use it to decorate my room in a spring-like way ♪
That's what got me thinking.

March 3rd is known as Rabbit Day .
I used a lot of rabbit stamps.
I usually combine them by series,
This time I stamped rabbits from various series.

We also introduce videos on Instagram and YouTube Shorts.
I'll also post a video on the blog.

First, stamp the date.
Three different date stamps are stamped to match the date of March 3rd.

The stamps are also shown in images.

The date stamp is a gradient.

This time, we used a spring-like "gradation" for the date stamp ♪
The ink used is →Stays On Midi.
Gradients create more atmosphere than a single color.

  • The round date stamp is a brown and pink gradient.
  • The square date stamp is purple and pink.
  • The strawberry date stamp is a little hard to see, but I used pink and red ink (small ink: Versa Magic Dewdrop).

The ink color of the rabbit stamps is also carefully selected.
Whenever I combine various stamps on one page, I always first think carefully about which colors to use.

This time I wanted to finish it by coloring it with watercolor pencils.
The key point was that we wanted to coordinate the colors of the date stamps.

If you are coloring with watercolor pencils,
I think the "color of the stamp that forms the outline" is important.

This time, the rabbits in the Ekuryu Forest Series and Strawberry Season Series are brown.
The rabbit in the Flower Festival series is purple.
It would be fine to use all brown, but I thought it might lack variety, so I used purple as well.

Small stamps such as plum blossoms and strawberries are also included.

I wanted to use plum blossoms as a focal point.
We use "mini mini stamps that can be used for New Year's and New Year's cards" and "twig mini stamps."
Please check out the video to see how to stamp the plum blossoms.

In the small space, there are strawberries and strawberry flowers to create a spring-like atmosphere.
And Easter is coming up soon ♪ There are also "egg stamps".
Eggs are actually one of the motifs we recommend using with Ekuryu no Mori stamps.

To finish the stamps, I use small glitter stamps etc.

Color with watercolor pencils and sponge daubers

The image also shows how it is colored.

First, with a sponge dauber

We introduce soft and gentle coloring methods.

It has a soft, fluffy pink color.
I use it in various places on the page. Can you see it?

It's just a little coloring,
Just by lightly coloring with sponge daubers, the pages will instantly become brighter and more colorful!

Compared to the uncolored image above, it looks much more vibrant and cute!

Colouring with watercolor pencils

Finally, I've got the Holbein watercolor pencils that I introduced previously!
It's time to use it ♪
I haven't been able to use it much and introduce it yet.

When coloring, the first thing I keep in mind is the yellow in the center of the "strawberry flower." Adding this makes it look really cute.
So I always paint yellow first.

First, color with watercolor pencils just like you would with regular colored pencils.
The finished color will be a little brighter, so it's okay to use a lighter coat.

We also use yellow-green and green for the date stamps on the strawberries and the strawberry leaves.

It's okay if there are some areas left unpainted.
In fact, leaving a few areas unpainted will create a rough and gentle atmosphere.

When you trace with a "water brush," the colors pop out, just like watercolors.

Please watch the video to see how to use the water brush.

A quick stroke with a water brush brings out the colors.
Like watercolor paint, the colors become vibrant and vibrant.

I love the moment when I use this water brush ♪
That's why I use watercolor pencils.

The rabbit in the Flower Festival series has a dreamy, cute image, with a purple stamped outline and pale pink coloring.
It also coordinates with the "Square Date Stamp" from the same series.

The appeal of watercolor pencils

Watercolor pencils have a different appeal than regular colored pencils.
Watercolors are good, but sometimes it can be a hassle to prepare the tools...
However, the good thing about watercolor pencils is that they are readily available and easy to use.

I also think that the "gentle touch" suits the Ekuryu no Mori stamps, so I always use them.
Please give it a try!

In the past, I used watercolor pencils from a different manufacturer.
Unfortunately it has been discontinued.
The Holbein product I used this time was a new release that I got.

Introducing Holbein watercolor pencils

I use the 24 color version.
Actually, I have 12 more colors that I chose myself (I thought 36 colors would be nice, but they didn't have any!)

But in the end, the colors I use are pretty much set...!
I think 24 colors would have been enough.
The colors I used this time are also from the 24 colors ♪

There are many different manufacturers of watercolor pencils, and I have been consulted about them in the past, so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The diary decoration is complete

Even just stamps are fun
"+Colored with watercolor pencils"
And it's even more wonderful ♪

And it's also fun to color.

Please give it a try!

↓This is what it looks like from above.

It's completely different from the impression you get from just the first stamp!
Even with light colors, you can create something so gorgeous and cute.

There have been many failures along the way,
That's also the good thing about handmade products.

Adding text improves the atmosphere, so this time I used some mini stamp text.
It's also a good idea to combine it with French letter stamps.
I also think it would be nice to include some handwritten text.

I also show it in the video
To finish, we also use purple and light blue inks as accents.

This time I used stamps of 6 different rabbits!
It's fun because each series has a different expression and style.
